Job Description
Life Cycle Assessment Consultant
Department: Circ. & Value Chain Trans. : Advisory
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Description
We are looking for someone who combines analytical rigour with commercial and strategic thinking: someone who can understand a client’s challenge, design the right technical approach, execute it efficiently, and translate the results into compelling, actionable insight. Strong storytelling is essential. The ability to turn complex analysis into clear recommendations that resonate with the intended audience is one of the most important aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a leading role in designing and delivering high-quality LCA projects across a diverse range of sectors, use cases and client needs.
- Build, review and interpret robust LCA and product carbon footprint models, primarily using SimaPro.
- Deliver work in line with recognised LCA methodologies, ISO standards, sector-specific frameworks, Product Category Rules and client-specific requirements.
- Understand client challenges, opportunities and decision-making needs, then design practical LCA approaches that provide clear value.
- Translate complex technical analysis into clear, succinct and compelling deliverables that are appropriate for the audience and support effective decision-making.
- Develop strategic, evidence-based recommendations and next steps based on LCA results, hotspots, trade-offs and improvement opportunities.
- Engage confidently with clients, including gathering requirements, explaining methods and assumptions, presenting findings, managing feedback and supporting trusted client relationships.
- Provide guidance on product carbon footprints, GHG inventories and the intersection between product-level analysis and corporate carbon accounting.
- Manage multiple projects and workstreams effectively, balancing competing timelines, priorities and client expectations.
- Apply strong, pragmatic judgement, critical thinking and proactive problem-solving to identify issues, resolve roadblocks and propose practical ways forward.
- Uphold Anthesis’ commitment to high-quality, high-impact LCA work, with strong attention to detail, technical accuracy and consistency.
- Support client engagement, proposal development and business development activities where relevant.
- Continuously identify ways to improve delivery quality, efficiency and consistency, including through process optimisation and the effective use of AI tools.
- Contribute to a learning-oriented team culture by experimenting, sharing lessons learned, failing fast where appropriate, and improving ways of working.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- A bachelor's degree in materials science, engineering, or related technical field.
- With 2-3 years of hands-on, applied LCA experience, ideally across multiple sectors, product types or value chains.
- Proven practical experience building and delivering LCA or product carbon footprint models, preferably using SimaPro.
- Strong understanding of key product footprinting standards and frameworks, including ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14067, the GHG Protocol Product Standard, EN standards for EPDs, EU Product Environmental Footprint, Product Category Rules and relevant sector-specific guidance.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify hotspots, assess trade-offs and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the confidence to propose solutions when faced with ambiguity or incomplete information.
- Strong ability to understand client problems, challenges and opportunities, and to develop practical technical approaches that address them.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to turn technical analysis into clear, compelling and actionable client-facing outputs.
- Good client management skills, including the ability to build trust, manage expectations and communicate technical findings clearly to different audiences.
- High proficiency in Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong personal accountability, with the ability to take ownership of work, follow through on commitments and work independently in a remote environment.
- Effective time management skills, with experience managing multiple complex projects, competing deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Experience using AI tools to support, accelerate or improve workflows, ideally including technical, analytical or LCA-related applications.
- A proactive improvement mindset, with a willingness to learn, experiment, fail fast and continuously improve.
- A genuine commitment to sustainability and environmental impact.
- Professional proficiency in English is essential, including strong spoken and written communication. Fluency in Spanish, French or another language is a plus.
- Experience with GHG inventories and corporate carbon footprinting is desirable.
- Power BI experience is a plus.
