Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical lead for LCA projects, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and sector-specific frameworks.
- Perform quality assurance on LCA models and deliverables using SimaPro (mainly) and Excel.
- Review and validate results against recognized LCA methodologies and client-specific requirements.
- Support proposal development, including responding to RFPs and creating tailored solutions for clients.
- Translate complex technical analysis into clear, succinct and compelling deliverables that are appropriate for the audience and support effective decision-making.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and design bespoke approaches that deliver value and insight.
- Collaborate on business development initiatives to expand LCA service offerings.
- Provide guidance on GHG inventories and the intersection of product carbon footprints and corporate carbon accounting.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of LCA expertise within the organization.
- Manage multiple projects and workstreams effectively, balancing competing timelines, priorities and client expectations.
- Apply strong, pragmatic judgement, critical thinking and proactive problem-solving to identify issues, resolve roadblocks and propose practical ways forward.
- Uphold Anthesis’ commitment to high-quality, high-impact LCA work, with strong attention to detail, technical accuracy and consistency.
- Contribute to a learning-oriented team culture by experimenting, sharing lessons learned, failing fast where appropriate, and improving ways of working.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Degree in materials science, engineering, or related technical field. PhD in LCA or related fields is highly valued.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on LCA experience across diverse sectors.
- Proficiency in LCA tools: SimaPro, OpenLCA, Excel; GaBi experience is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of key product footprinting standards and frameworks, including ISO 14040/14044 for LCA, ISO 14067 for product carbon footprinting, GHG Protocol Product Standard, EN standards for EPDs, EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), Product Category Rules (PCRs), and relevant industry-specific guidelines.
- Experience using AI tools to support, accelerate or improve workflows, ideally including technical, analytical or LCA-related applications.
- Proven experience in substantiating Green Claims based on LCA results, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks and translating insights into defensible client recommendations and proposal approaches.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify hotspots, assess trade-offs and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Experience with GHG inventories and corporate carbon footprinting.
- Excellent client engagement skills with the ability to tailor approaches creatively.
- Experience in managing multiple complex projects, with competing timelines and priorities.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the confidence to propose solutions when faced with ambiguity or incomplete information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High proficiency in Excel.
- Strong Power BI skills are highly valued.
- Proficiency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish/French/German is a plus.
