Job description

 

Position Overview:
Southern Mechanical is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Plumbing Superintendent to support field operations on multi-family construction projects in the Nashville area. This role works closely with the Plumbing Superintendent to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

 

Pay: $28-$30 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing day-to-day plumbing operations on multi-family job sites
• Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to maintain project schedules
• Work with subcontractors, vendors, and project managers to ensure smooth workflow
• Help enforce safety standards and company policies on-site
• Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and codes
• Track progress and assist with reporting, scheduling, and documentation
• Identify and help resolve field issues proactively
• Support inspections and ensure readiness for project milestones

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in plumbing construction (multi-family preferred)
• Strong understanding of plumbing systems, layouts, and installation practices
• Experience assisting with jobsite supervision or crew leadership
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
• Knowledge of local plumbing codes and safety regulations
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency with construction scheduling tools and basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a supervisory or foreman role
• OSHA certification
• Experience working on large-scale multi-family developments

Job Type: Full-time

 

Schedule

• 10 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime
• Weekends as needed

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
• OSHA 30 (Required) or obtain within 60 days after employment

Work Location: In person
