The Jr. Engine Seafarer is responsible for general cleaning and maintenance of engine room as directed by the First Engineer. Primarily cleaning, chipping, painting and maintaining the ships running machinery in the engine room.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Undertakes general cleaning and painting of Engine Room
Assists in maintenance and repairs as directed by the First Engineer
Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SMS, and carry out the policies and procedures applicable for subject position.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Supports general upkeep of Engine Room
Undertakes duties assigned by First Engineer
Assumes all duties assigned by the First Engineer
Assists in keeping the Engine Rooms and workshops in a clean and orderly manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of six (6) months prior experience working with heavy machinery is required.
- Basic to Intermediate level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper use of English grammar is required.
- The incumbent must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment; also, must be able to adjust to changes in schedules, assignments and deadlines.
EDUCATION
Highschool diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
Position-specific STCW training from an accredited educational institution is required.
