ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensures that the bar/lounge is stocked and re-stocked with clean and sanitized
glassware, utensils and all other related supplies. Responsible for maintaining clean
and organized bar pantries.
• Assist the bartenders behind the bar completing simple order as required.
• Responsible for the safe, accurate and temperature-controlled storage of all
products, supplies and sundries.
• Operates the dishwashers in the assigned work area, and coordinates with the
maintenance department if they are not working properly.
• Supports staff to maintain the food and service schedule of the assigned bar/lounge.
• Assists in the set-up and break-down of special events as instructed by
management.
• Operate and maintain all equipment in the proper manner and in charge of overall
cleanliness of the assigned workstations, according to the area’s schedule.
• Ensures that all dispensing equipment is stocked, cleaned and prepared to meet the
daily demands.
• Immediately reports all needed repairs and malfunctions in order to minimize
downtime.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific
duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically
related to the position.
• Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS,
and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.
DIMENSIONS
Provides support to the entire bar staff by ensuring that the bar areas and supplies are
clean, and is also responsible for stocking and restocking the assigned bar area at all times.
NATURE AND SCOPE
• The position will report directly to the Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager or Head
Bartender. The incumbent ensures that the assigned bar is properly cleaned and
fully stocked at all times. Position requires ability to adjust to changing supervisor
directions at a moments’ notice, depending upon the needs of the supervisor or other
bar staff.
• The incumbent must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment; also, must be
able to adjust to changes in schedules, assignments and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND ATTRIBUTES
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Bar Back in a luxury, high-volume
hotel/resort with multiple food and beverage outlets, or previous shipboard
experience in a similar position is required.
• Intermediate to Advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper
use of English grammar is required.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage operations and service is required.
• Basic knowledge of public health and sanitation regulations and procedures is
required.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or foreign equivalent degree is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required
to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach
with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require
repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting more
than 25 pounds. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.
• All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving
procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs
as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in
the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
• Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.
• Able to pass basic safety course.
