Job Description
Itron is innovating new ways for utilities and cities to manage energy and water. We create a more resourceful world to protect essential resources for today and tomorrow. Join us.
Itron is a global technology company. We build solutions that help utilities measure, manage and analyze energy and water. Our broad product portfolio includes electricity, gas, water and thermal energy measurement and control technology; communications systems; software; and professional services. With thousands of employees supporting nearly 8,000 utilities in more than 100 countries, Itron empowers utilities to responsibly and efficiently manage energy and water resources. Join us in creating a more resourceful world.
About the Role
We're hiring a Product Manager III to join Itron's EP&R (Emergency Preparedness and Response) product team, based in our Bangalore office. EP&R is one of Itron's most critical solutions, helping utilities plan for and respond to severe weather events and large-scale outages.
You'll report to our Lead PM and partner closely with engineering teams in Bangalore and Thailand. The role is intentionally placed in Bangalore for time zone alignment and collaboration with both teams. As a core member of EP&R product - your primary focus will be our Storm Manager, Storm Impact, and Callout applications, with opportunities to contribute to platform initiatives as we build more horizontal capabilities across EP&R and adjacent product lines.
What You'll Do
Drive the roadmap for Storm Manager, Storm Impact, and Callout. Prioritize the backlog, plan releases, and align delivery to company goals.
Drive discovery. Interview customers, partner with internal SMEs, and validate solutions through experimentation before committing engineering capacity.
Prototype to learn faster. Use AI-assisted tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make etc.) to mockup flows, test ideas with customers, and de-risk decisions before they hit a sprint.
Translate problems into shippable solutions. Write clear user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria that engineering and design can execute without ambiguity.
Operate cross-functionally across BLR, Thailand, and US-based PM, engineering, design, and implementation teams. You won't have direct reports; your influence comes from clarity and follow-through.
Measure what ships. Track adoption, outcomes, and customer feedback. Adjust direction based on evidence, not opinion.
Contribute to platform thinking. As we scale horizontal solutions across EP&R, help identify capabilities that should live at the platform layer vs. the product layer.
Stakeholder Communication. Own the communication rythm around roadmap progress, release milestones, and key decisions proactively surfacing risks and trade-offs so leadership can make informed business decisions.
5+ years in product management, with at least part of that in vertical B2B SaaS serving enterprise customers. (Required)
Customer-fluent. You're comfortable in the room with utility operations teams and can translate operational workflows into scalable solutions.
Technically credible. You don't write production code, but you can hold your own on architecture, integrations, data flows, and modern AI/ML concepts with engineering.
Hands-on with AI tooling. You actively use AI coding and prototyping tools as part of your PM workflow — to draft specs, build clickable prototypes, query data, and accelerate discovery. You treat these as leverage, not novelty.
Sharp writer. Your PRDs leave little room for interpretation. You can also defend a decision to a skeptical exec in three sentences.
Organized under pressure. You keep dependencies visible and priorities tight across distributed teams without becoming a bottleneck.
Adaptable. You operate well in a fast-paced environment where scope shifts and processes are still being built.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field, or equivalent experience.
Domain experience in utility operations, outage management, storm/weather modeling, or field operations.
Experience working on or with platform teams supporting multiple product lines.
Experience shipping functional prototypes or internal tools yourself using AI-Assisted tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, etc.) — bonus if you've used them to validate a feature pre-engineering.
Experience integrating with third-party enterprise systems
Track record shipping enterprise applications used in both field and office environments.
Willingness to travel to the US and Thailand for customer visits and team offsites.

If you are excited about this role but your past experiences don't perfectly align with every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. In the end, you may be just who we are looking for!
The successful candidate's starting wage will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.
Itron is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. If you require an accommodation to apply, please contact a recruiting representative at 1-800-635-5461 or email [email protected].
