STARTING PAY: $21.20 per hour

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the daily upkeep of Agency Operated Sites and grounds to ensure compliance with safety and licensing requirements. Support Facility Planning and Environmental Quality. Assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of all agency vehicles.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs general repair and maintenance of facilities to include but not limited to carpentry, electrical, flooring and plumbing repairs.
- Conducts preventative maintenance checks for building fixtures and equipment and takes steps necessary to correct item(s).
- Maintains playgrounds and outdoor areas by conducting regular safety inspections, repairing equipment, and ensuring compliance with HS/EHS safety standards.
- Maintains Agency vehicles by having them checked and serviced periodically, following the maintenance schedule, and accurately logging all repairs and servicing.
- Completes facility related service requests and work orders as assigned.
- Run errands and picks up and delivers supplies as is necessary.
- Performs spot cleaning of facilities. Assists contracted maintenance and repair services as necessary.
- Completes HVAC, filter, belt, and light maintenance repairs.
- Build custom furniture, cabinetry and constructs walls as assigned.
- Assists in setup of new classrooms; transporting, assembling and securing furniture and equipment.
- Perform safety inspections to ensure compliance to DCF, ADA, OSHA and 4C standards.
- Assists with emergency preparedness activities, including hurricane readiness, lockdown procedures, fire drills, and post-emergency facility assessments.
- Participates in building security by managing keys, access controls, gates, fencing, and reporting security concerns promptly.
- Assists with inventory management of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment; notifies supervisor of shortages or replacement needs.
- Participates in the Agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs
- Ability to analyze and correct the majority of facility and equipment malfunctions
- Knowledge of general maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of building maintenance techniques and repairs.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in maintenance and repair duties.
- Ability to operate a personal computer. Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing and databases, including Microsoft Word.
- Ability to navigate the Internet.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor tasks under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work and communicate with people from various multi-cultural backgrounds and socio-economic levels.
- Sensitivity to the needs, abilities, beliefs, and attitudes of individuals within and outside the Agency, including but not limited to clients and co-workers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years’ experience in a variety of maintenance skills, such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing or related fields
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Must meet criteria for background screening as required for childcare personnel in child care licensing regulations.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and daily access to reliable transportation to and from work and for travel to off-site locations.
- Must have no suspension or revocation of Driver’s License in the previous 36 months.
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification - preferred
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds in various forms.
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb and otherwise access areas of building for repair and maintenance.
- Manual dexterity for use of tools.
- Required to stand and/or be in continuous motion for extended periods of time while performing job functions with physical endurance.
- Ability to operate lawn care and floor care equipment including power tools.
- Must be able to transport and deliver materials to various sites.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to move furniture
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Work in varying temperatures indoors and outdoors.
- Work outdoors with possible exposure to rain, extreme cold or hot weather.
- Various work locations, as instructed.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, including blood borne pathogens.
- Local travel required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- The ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or qualitative productivity standards.
- The ability to maintain reasonably, regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.
- Compliance with all personnel policies of the Agency.
