Reporting to the Near Surface Mine Captain(s) you will be part of the Near Surface Department. You will be responsible for supporting Mine Operations and being part of the underground team including Services/Construction and Maintenance. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Tasks will include loading explosives, installation, grouting and tensioning of cable bolts for hanging wall support;
Competently perform all Mining 2, 3 & 4 functions (Services & Construction);
Read and understand blast prints from engineering;
Wash, scale and prepare areas for safe loading activities;
Communication – listen to and communicate with others, keep accurate records on 5 point card, aligning with daily tasks;
Capable of working in a team and supports members of the team that need assistance;
Works within their capabilities and provides help to other team members when capable. If outside of their abilities, then wait for the longhole supervisor to assist;
Proficient in longhole blasting of inverse/drop raises and production;
Comply with all instructions given by the employer, which relate to health and safety;
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum 2 years experience as a Miner 2 or equivalent (>6 years UG);
Must be able to work in a team environment;
Good Communication skills are essential;
Strong understanding of longhole mining methods and procedures;
Underground common core is required;
Tolerance for hot / cold and humid environment;
Demonstrated Safety awareness;
Timing/Firing of EZ Dets and DigiShot;
Extensive experience with Swedish Loader (stick powder in upholes);
Experience with bulk emulsion is an asset;
Longhole drilling experience is an asset.

Schedule: 7/7 schedule at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
