Purchasing Indirect Packaging Job Responsibilities Responsible for sourcing and purchasing quality packaging materials required by the company to ensure continuity of company's processes and operations. Work closely with product development teams to understand their packaging requirements and offer an effective packaging solution through research and supplier analysis. Negotiate with suppliers on packaging prices, lead times, delivery schedules, and quality to maximize value and ensure the company's requirements are met. Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distribution centers, and internal departments to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of packaging materials. Manage purchase order process, from creation to closure, including order confirmation, delivery monitoring, and invoice settlement. Monitor supplier performance and address any discrepancies in product quality or service level. Develop, maintain, and manage a strong supplier base to foster long term strategic partnerships. Utilize key market knowledge to identify and recommend potential cost reductions and efficiency improvements. Anticipate and work to resolve any problems, bottlenecks, or delays in the packaging supply chain that may impact production schedules. Monitor market trends in packaging materials, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes as needed. Ensure that all purchasing activities comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Maintain accurate records of all procurement-related activities for audit purposes and future reference. Participate in the development of specifications for packaging equipment, products, or substitute materials. Responsible for risk management with a focus on maintaining continuity of supply.
