Financial Accountant

Classification grade: Clerk Grade 5/6

Salary: $99,938 - $110,271 p.a. plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annualised leave loading.

Work type: Temporary, full time for up to 12 months with the possibility of extension or conversion to ongoing.

 

About the role

An exciting new opportunity exists for you, a Financial Accountant, to join the Finance team at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office (CSO).  

This role is for an experienced Financial Accountant to demonstrate their proficiency in financial control and reporting tasks, while also contributing significantly to the production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.

Essential requirements

  • CA/CPA qualified with current professional membership
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Finance or Economics and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Sound knowledge of public sector accounting policies, practices, the Treasurer’s Directions, current Finance Acts, current Trust legislation, Australian accounting standards and relevant GST and FBT compliance requirements.

 

About you. Our ideal candidate.

  • You have a detailed understanding of accounting, financial and budgeting procedures.
  • You have experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Understanding of payroll journals, reconciliation of payroll control accounts, and leave liability reporting in accordance with AASB 119.
  • Experience with fixed asset management, depreciation schedules, and accruals/prepayments.
  • Demonstrated experience performing balance sheet reconciliations across all key accounts, including bank, debtors, creditors, intercompany, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
  • You have the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience supervising junior staff, including reviewing work, providing constructive feedback, and supporting technical development.
