Description
Key Responsibilities
- Machine composite components using 5 axis CNC machines and offline CNC programs.
- Manufacture patterns, moulds, jigs, Rohacell components, and additional tooling required by the business.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings to maintain precision and identify any issues prior to removing parts from the machine.
- Monitor workloads and production schedules to ensure parts are delivered on time, communicating any delays or concerns proactively.
- Maintain CNC machines and tooling to maximise performance, extend service life, and minimise downtime.
- Continuously improve machining methods and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall productivity.
- Work closely with CNC Programmers to provide feedback on machining performance, technical issues, and process improvements.
- Prepare and cut stock materials for machining operations where required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times.
- Support the Pattern Shop and tooling machining operations during periods of lower composite demand.
- Assist across other areas of the department as required to support business needs.
- Meet the operational demands and flexibility required within Car Build working hours.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong understanding of composite machining techniques, tooling manufacture, and precision machining within tight-tolerance environments, ensuring components consistently meet exacting quality standards.
- Previous experience working within a Pattern Shop, CNC machining environment, or similar manufacturing setting, ideally within Formula One, motorsport, aerospace, or other high-performance engineering industries.
- Highly proficient in reading, interpreting, and working from detailed engineering drawings and CAD data to produce accurate, high-quality components.
- Good working knowledge of CNC programming principles, offline machining processes, and traditional pattern making methods, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and business demands, particularly during busy car build periods where priorities can change rapidly.
- Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset with strong communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across departments.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering work to the highest possible standard.
- Strong awareness and commitment to maintaining Health & Safety standards, housekeeping, and safe working practices within a workshop environment.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team-focused manufacturing operation.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and consistently meeting tight production deadlines.
