Job Description
Job description: As QHSE Officer, you are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the station’s Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental management systems
You act as a strategic advisor to management and as a hands-on operational partner to the business
You ensure compliance with: Dutch health & safety legislation Schiphol regulations Customer airline
Swissport corporate standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 ISAGO and other applicable standards You drive continuous improvement while safeguarding operational integrity and regulatory compliance
QHSE Governance & Compliance Manage the assigned operational scope in line with defined safety, quality, security, and environmental standards Maintain the legal register (Dutch legislation & Schiphol regulations) Maintain and update the RI&E and operational risk register Ensure compliance with the Swissport International Management System Advise management on the effectiveness of QHSE systems and conduct annual management reviews Plan and coordinate QHSE KPI monitoring and performance reporting Audits, Investigations & Risk Management Plan, conduct, and follow up on internal safety and compliance audits Coordinate and facilitate global, regional, and external audits Initiate and conduct investigations into incidents, hazards, and near-misses Perform root cause analysis and oversee corrective and preventive actions Monitor effectiveness of implemented action plans Ensure accurate documentation in the iCare database Safety Leadership & Culture Promote a strong “Safety First” culture across the station Develop and deliver QHSE training, campaigns, and awareness initiatives Provide on-the-job coaching and guidance to operational teams Ensure required safety
(including BHV) are maintained Support emergency preparedness and business continuity planning Operational Integration Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to embed QHSE principles into daily operations Maintain and distribute customer manuals, procedures, and safety communications Support strategic QHSE projects and corporate initiatives Performance Expectations You will be measured against clear compliance and performance targets, including: 100% compliance with H&S, EASA, and Schiphol regulations 100% compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISAGO Timely completion of audits, investigations, and reporting Achievement of station QHSE KPIs and incident reduction targets
and Competencies Experience & Knowledge University degree / HBO qualification or equivalent experience 3–5 years’ experience in safety management and/or quality management systems Strong knowledge of Dutch safety legislation and aviation industry regulations Experience with audits, safety investigations, root cause analysis, and risk assessments Excellent command of Dutch and English (spoken and written) Advanced MS Office and digital systems proficiency Experience in ground handling ramp operations is an advantage Competencies Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Ability to operate effectively at all organizational levels Structured, analytical, and well-organized Self-starter with resilience and drive Persuasive and capable of mobilizing teams Strong compliance mindset with a passion for continuous improvement Flexible in working hours within an operational aviation environment What We Offer A key safety position within a dynamic international aviation environment Direct impact on operational safety and quality performance Collaboration with cross-functional operational teams Opportunity to contribute to a strong and positive safety culture Competitive
