
Shift Mechanic
Job Description
Primary Purpose:
- The Shift Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- -Inspect equipment for condition, operation, parts, and fluid levels.
- -Check, fill, and replace appropriate fluids and parts.
- -Perform adjustments to various systems during preventive maintenance service.
- -Identify and designate mechanical problems.
- -Complete necessary repair and preventive maintenance work.
- -Comply with all federal, OSHA, and company policies and procedures.
- -Complete required paperwork as necessary.
- -Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Do
Minimum requirements:
EDUCATION:
•High School or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
•1 to 3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
•Welding knowledge
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
•Ability to possess a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical problems on conveyor systems and/or Diesel equipment and carry out repairs or adjustments to solve the problem
•Must be able to cut and weld
•Must be flexible and have the ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules
•Must be familiar with the use of test and measurement equipment
•Demonstrated aptitude to execute and maintain necessary records
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
•Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, willing to work in protected areas at heights up to 75 feet above ground.
•Must be able to work at elevations up to 75 feet.
•Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
•Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
•Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards.
•Overtime may be required and is anticipated..
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Ability to work in all weather conditions.
•Ability to work around water (dock).
•Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
•Must be available to respond to call-out as assigned.
•Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus on attention to details, and follow work rules.
