Job Description

The Developmental Care Program, Department of Pediatrics, Neonatology Division, is seeking an on-call social worker. The interdisciplinary Developmental Care team (occupational, physical, speech, family and infant massage therapists, early childhood educator, family liaisons) is an integral component of the Neonatology Division. The Division and Program serve infants and families in a 51 bed regional NICU, including transitions to home and statewide follow-up. This individual provides relationship-based, comprehensive support services for families of premature and/or critically ill infants as part of an interdisciplinary team. This position is responsible for providing, overseeing, and/or administering a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessments, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services in a high-intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making. Lead and train lower level social workers, students, and/or interns engaged in related therapeutic/patient care activities, as appropriate to the individual position. Knowledge of community resources including resources for meeting basic needs, housing, and mental health services as well as collaborating with other hospital departments and outside organizations is required. The position will require weekend and evening hours.
