Job Description

PSC Creative College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer in Screen Production & Filmmaking to support delivery of Screen Media subjects in Trimester 2.

This is an ideal opportunity for a working industry professional who enjoys mentoring emerging creatives and bringing current industry practice into the classroom. You’ll contribute to teaching across our Bachelor of Photography and Bachelor of Screen Media, working alongside a collaborative team of experienced educators and practitioners.

This role combines teaching, student support, and subject preparation, with a strong focus on practical filmmaking and contemporary production workflows.

  • Start date: 4 May 2026 (preparation)
  • Teaching commences: 1 June 2026
  • End date: 2 September 2026
  • Hours: 12 hours per week 
    • On-campus requirement: Thursdays, 10:00am – 1:00pm

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering one online and one face-to-face class each week
  • Guiding students through all stages of screen production (pre-production, production, post-production)
  • Providing constructive and timely feedback on student work
  • Assisting in refining course materials and assessments
  • Completing marking and subject administration within required timeframes
  • Collaborating with course leaders and fellow educators
  • Creating an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Qualifications

About You

You’re a hands-on screen industry professional and educator who enjoys mentoring others and translating real-world experience into meaningful learning.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor or Degree in Creative Industries, Screen Media, Film, or related field
  • Experience across film, television, or advertising production
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in screen production and filmmaking
  • Experience working on set (e.g. directing, lighting, camera, crew roles)
  • Strong understanding of filmmaking processes and production workflows
  • Teaching, mentoring, or training experience
  • Experience in lighting and cinematography

Highly Desirable:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain creative and technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to manage preparation, marking, and administration effectively
  • A student-centred approach and passion for developing emerging creatives
  • Broader film experience (e.g. producing, screen writing etc)
