
Assistant Speech Language Pathologist - RDSP for the Deaf
Job Description
Education/Certification Required:
- Bachelor's degree with a valid Texas license on Texas Education certification in speech/language pathology.
Experience Required:
- None
Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Knowledge of deafness, sign language, language development, language sampling/analysis, developing articulation skills, and auditory learning/listening skills development.
Technology Proficiency: Level2
- Applied use of computer operations
- Applied use of software productivity tools (i.e., Microsoft Office)
- Applied use of e-mail

Function
The Speech/Language Pathologist (Regional Day School Program for the Deaf) appraises student speech, language, and hearing disabilities and develops programs to meet the individual student's educational needs.
Reports To:
Director for Special Education
Responsibilities:
- Tests speech, hearing, and language disabilities.
- Provides individual and group therapy as required by the individual needs ofthe student.
- Secures and reviews materials utilized in the speech therapy program.
- Keeps accurate and properly-filed records and evaluations as required by the District and the Texas Education Agency.
- Serves as a resource person for the classroom teacher by providing materials, setting weekly targets, and making suggestions for daily speech instruction.
- Assists teachers of auditorially-handicapped students with annual language sampling and analysis.
- Communicates using sign language when appropriate.
- Prepares and updates individual- and group-therapy schedules and makes copies available to the principal, teachers, and the Coordinator for the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf.
- Performs other job-related duties assigned by the Coordinator for the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf, and campus principal.

Salary: ADMN/203: Salary range is $263.28 to $382.80 daily (individual daily rate calculation is based on applicable experience)
