Job Description

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or high school equivalent required
  • Bus Driver's license / CDL license required
  • Supervisory references preferred
  • Positive employment history preferred
  • SLED/criminal background review required
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Salary: $18.20 per hour base salary with opportunities for over-time


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Status:  "At-will" Employee, subject to random drug and alcohol testing and pre-employment screening.

Responsible to:  Director of Transportation

Job Duties:

  • Obeys all laws.
  • Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
  • Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • Keeps to assigned schedule.
  • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
  • Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
  • Transports only authorized students.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Provides time, mileage and route reports as requested by supervisor.
  • Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  • Checks the bus before and after each trip.
  • Adheres to district drug/alcohol testing policy and procedures.
  • Reports any condition which may jeopardize safe transportation.
  • Perform other related duties as required
