Classroom Substitute
Job Description
Primary Purpose:
To manage student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school district and state.
Substitute Expections and Responsibilities:
- Must possess effective communication skills - verbal and written
- General knowledge of technology
- Provide students with appropriate learning activities in the academic subject area
- Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and any special duties assigned to the absent teacher (bus duty, hall duty, lunch/recess duty, etc.)
- Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive learning environment
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information
- Complies with and supports school and state regulations and policies
- Performs extra duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/state policies and practices
Compensation for Substitute Teachers

**Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
*A minimum of 50 credited college hours
**Long term daily rate begins after the 10th consecutive day of the same assignment
Additional Information
Substitute employees are subject to fingerprinting in accordance with Senate Bill 9. The fingerprinting agency charges approximately $50.00 for the appointment.
If you are invited to become a substitute for MISD and you have not been fingerprinted with the Texas Education Agency F.A.C.T. Clearinghouse, MISD will email the information for this process.
