Job Description

Purpose Statement: To monitor students safely and efficiently while providing a quality experience for all.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide a positive, respectful relationship with students, administrators and community.
  • Ensure the care of all students daily.
  • Learn the bus route in order to help a sub driver.
  • Assist in the transferring of students to other buses.
  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining a clean bus.
  • Assist the bus driver as needed with disciplinary action.
  • Maintains order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and submits documents per yearly requirements as required.
  • Assist to ensure that no child is left alone on a bus without adult supervision.
  • Must know accident/emergency procedures in case the driver is unable to communicate and provide a written report of the event to the Transportation office.
  • Attends and participates in trainings, and other continuing education.

Additional Duties:
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Equipment:
  • Wheelchair tie downs, student safety restraints, seat belts, and bus radio.

Travel Requirements:
  • Travel to and from school district buildings, and other destinations as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs and related information.
  • Effective organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend information from procedures manuals and other materials.
  • Ability to physically move through the bus.
  • Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure and in cases of accidents or other emergencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
  • Works in standard school bus environment. 
Qualifications Profile:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. 

Certification/License:
  • None required.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Terms of Employment:
Less than 12 month
4 Hours per day
Benefits offered to contracted monitors only
Grade 7 on Support Classified Salary Matrix:

Sub monitor daily rate(benefits not offered)-$68.56

Full time monitor(benefits offered)-$68.56-74.32 based on experience
Starting Hourly Rate Placement: $17.14-18.58 based on experience
An additional $1 per hour will be paid on full time staff through referendum funds
