TITLE:	Substitute Teacher
SALARY:	Aligns with certification and/or education
DEPARTMENT:	Personnel
LENGTH OF CONTRACT:	Non-Applicable
QUALIFICATIONS:	Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Successfully meet the requirements of the TABE instrument or provide proof of having completed at least 60 college credit hours (Non-Certified persons only). Attends a substitute workshop (Non-Certified persons only).
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:	Principal
JOB SUMMARY:	To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building. Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned. Teaches the lesson outlined in the teacher’s lesson plan. Consults as appropriate, with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the teacher’s lesson plans. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods. Reports in writing, on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates. Performs all other related duties as assigned by the principal.
EVALUATION:	Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
