Job Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:

Working in collaboration with the Director of Technology (Information Technology), the Database Administrator is responsible for planning, analyzing, recommending, implementing, and supporting the District's databases and their associated integrations. The primary responsibilities of this position center on the administration, maintenance, and support of the PowerSchool Student Information System, including its data integrity, reporting, and integration with other District systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Experience working with a ticketing system independently and with minimum supervision.
  2. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  3. Willingness to work alternative work schedules as needed (flex hours).
  4. Strong communication and interaction skills with both staff, students, and families of varying grade levels.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred, in computer science, information technology, or equivalent.
  2. 3 to 5 years experience or other similar related positions.
  3. Experience and/or certification working with database systems such as PowerSchool, FinalSite (Blackboard), SNAP, Clever, Follett Destiny, Mosyle, eTrition, Raptor, Pickup Patrol, SQL, Oracle, ODBC, etc., required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Primarily responsible for the maintenance, support and troubleshooting of the District's database systems.
  2. Coordinate and conduct all database activities, including program updates/patches, maintenance, cataloging, report design & generation, locking & access rights, etc., to comply with the District's policies and to maintain the integrity and security of the databases.
  3. Maintain development, test, production, report and testing environments for all applicable systems, including synchronizing data between environments to ensure integrity.
  4. Provide technical database assistance to all users in the District, and coordinate training on new database and systems technology, as determined by the Director.
  5. Knowledge of state reporting (BOY, MOY, EOY). This role will oversee and assist staff with various elements/procedures regarding state reporting.
  6. Manage enrollment forms for any necessary changes for all schools, provide and train on processes and procedures. Test functionality for staff and parents.
  7. Coordinate various database backups, restores, rollbacks and recovery processes as needed.
  8. Develop and evaluate options in infrastructure planning to support new applications and technologies. Coordinate deployment of network & database projects with the Director.
  9. Manage the administration of network accounts, including assigning usernames & passwords, security groups and access to various network systems.
  10. Main point of contact for Mosyle MDM for all iPads and related app deployment.
  11. Assist the Director with maintaining district compliance and documentation for staff and student data privacy (aka DPAs); RSA 189:66.
  12. Provide the Director with regular updates and feedback regarding network and database systems in a proactive manner.
  13. Maintain proficiency with the systems used within the District.
  14. Attend conferences, educational meetings, and review professional literature to keep current on industry and technology trends and practices, and maintain personal and professional technology skills & knowledge base.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Superintendent.

STATUS: Non-exempt.

SCHEDULE: 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
