DESCRIPTION:
The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs (RSIP) is seeking a Part-time (0.5 FTE) Construction Trades Teacher to support In-Districts CTE programs. The candidate must have the ability to teach all students, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504s. Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing instructional plans and curriculum tailored to various construction trades
Teaching fundamental skills and techniques in hands-on construction projects
Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback to promote skill development
Fostering a safe and organized classroom and workshop environment
Maintaining and managing tools and equipment used in training
Collaborating with local construction businesses to provide students with real-world experience and job placement opportunities
Staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and safety standards
REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Education Department Certification: Residential/Commercial Building Maintenance & Remodeling 7-12 (Transitional A, Initial, Professional)
Strong knowledge of construction techniques, tools, and safety protocols
Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills
Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning styles and abilities.
Proficiency in using technology and teaching tools related to construction education.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment
Experience working with secondary students is preferred
SALARY: As per labor contract
