Job Description
The North Plainfield School District, a culturally rich and diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students from Pre-K through grade 12, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional for the position of Comptroller.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the district's financial operations and long-term fiscal health. The successful candidate will partner with the School Business Administrator to oversee financial systems, support budget development, ensure compliance, and maintain strong internal controls.

Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Finance, or related field
- Minimum of three years of experience supervising an accounting or financial office, preferably in a public agency
- Knowledge of New Jersey public school finance, budgeting, and reporting requirements
- Experience with accounting systems and advanced spreadsheet applications
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in supervising Business Office operations and staff
- Support budget development and monitor expenditures
- Oversee financial reporting, payroll, and account reconciliation
- Assist with grants, tuition billing, debt service, and contracts
- Coordinate annual audit preparation and internal controls
- Prepare financial reports and analyses
- Perform other duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator
Salary: $115,000 (minimum) to $120,000 (maximum) commensurate with experience
