Student Groundsperson
Position Purpose
Maintain corporation grounds, playgrounds, athletic fields, parking lots, walkways and roadways in a clean and safe manner while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools. Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings and adjacent grounds.
Essential Job Functions
Equipment
Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower and hand tools.
Travel Requirements
Travel between school and separate school/facility buildings will be required.
Pay Rate
$14.00 per hour.
Work Schedule
Student Based Learning Work Schedule.

Seldom = Less than 25% Occasional = 26 to 50% Often = 51 to 75% Very Frequent = Greater than 75%
Education
While previous experience is preferred we will train for the right candidate.

Job Description
Student Groundsperson
Position Purpose
Maintain corporation grounds, playgrounds, athletic fields, parking lots, walkways and roadways in a clean and safe manner while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools. Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings and adjacent grounds.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains and cares for school grounds and athletic fields.
- Cuts and maintains lawns with hand or power mowers.
- Prepares seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil or adding fertilizer or chemicals, if needed.
- Plants seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings and shrubbery.
- Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees or shrubs.
- Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
- Mows, stripes, and assists in athletic field preparation and maintenance.
- Shovels snow and assists with snow and ice removal from sidewalks, drives and parking lots
- Spreads sand, salt or other chemicals to prevent slipping
- Performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting and moving materials
- Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed
- Operates small equipment and machinery in a safe environment using all safety precautions.
- Maintains and adjusts equipment such as mowers, irrigation systems and trimmers
- Repairs outdoor chairs, benches and other items as needed
- Maintains a professional attitude and a positive relationship with stakeholders at all times
- Promotes a harassment and discriminatory-free environment
- Demonstrates a commitment to work
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Demonstrates good judgment and common sense
- Available to work additional hours and/or be on call as required to meet the needs of the position

- Working knowledge of tools and equipment.

- Current student at Perry Meridian High School or Southport High School
