Position: ASD � Education Assistant (K-1) Posting # 3945

-Sheldon Woods Elementary 

Posting Dates: March 19, 2026 � Until Filled 

Reports To: Principal

Beginning: Immediately

Hours: 35 hours per week

8:50 a.m. to 3:53 p.m.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience with school aged children

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support student 1:1 or in small group support during academic instruction
  • Help implement IEP goals (academic, behavioral, communication, social)
  • Support students with task initiation, completion, and transitions
  • Support the use of AAC devices, visuals, PECS, or communication systems
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, and daily transitions
  • Support students with independence in routines (lining up, cleaning up, following schedules)
  • Prepare and organize materials (visual schedules, task bins, sensory tools)
  • Assist with toileting, hygiene, feeding, and dressing as needed
  • Supervise and support students during recess, lunch, and specials
  • Follow district and building policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and consistency
  • Participate in team meetings and trainings when appropriate

Other Information:

  • CPI trained or willing to be trained in CPI
  • Willing to work in cold weather.
  • Able to be flexible and adjust quickly to the needs of the day.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
  • The worker should provide consistent and reliable in person attendance.
