Job Description
TITLE: STEM Teacher (Grades 5-8)
JOB GOAL:
To provide engaging, standards-based STEM instruction to students in grades 5-8 while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and technology skills. The teacher will prepare students for future academic and career opportunities through hands-on learning experiences and instruction in STEM and computer science concepts.
QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED):
- Valid Indiana teaching license in one of the following areas:
- Computer Education or Computer Science (Grades 5-12)
- Business (Grades 5-12)
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) Business and Technology (Grades 5-12)
- Workplace Specialist License in Computer Science
- Mathematics or Science (Grades 5-12), preferably with training and/or experience in computer science
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Knowledge of STEM education principles, computer science concepts, and technology integration.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach assigned STEM courses to students in grades 5-8.
- Teach introductory computer science courses as assigned.
- Develop lessons that promote inquiry, innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences into instruction.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and expectations.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
- Maintain instructional materials, equipment, and technology resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time position in accordance with board policy, the negotiated agreement, and the teacher salary schedule
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with board policy, the negotiated agreement, and applicable state law
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10�20 pounds occasionally
- Ability to operate instructional technology and laboratory equipment
- Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform instructional duties
- Regular and punctual attendance required
