Job Description
We are seeking a Financial Capability Caseworker to join our Financial Wellbeing & Community team in Liverpool, with a strong focus on supporting clients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
This role provides targeted, early-intervention financial capability for casework to individuals and families experiencing financial stress or vulnerability. Working in community and outreach settings, you will support clients to understand their financial situation, build money management skills, and develop healthy financial behaviours.
You will work closely with Financial Counselling and other Community & Mission services to deliver an integrated, person-centred and culturally responsive service.
Key responsibilities
Provide short-term, capability-focused casework to individuals and families experiencing financial stress
Conduct person-centred, trauma-informed financial capability assessments in community and office settings
Support clients to develop money plans, budgeting skills and financial confidence
Deliver strengths-based financial coaching that supports positive behaviour change
Develop, implement and review client-led case plans focused on long-term financial wellbeing
Provide advocacy and warm referrals aligned to client goals
Work collaboratively with Financial Counselling and other Community & Mission services
Engage with CALD communities through outreach at churches, hubs and local agencies
Maintain accurate and timely client records in line with funding and organisational requirements
Skills and experience
Degree in Social Work, Community Services or similar, or relevant qualifications with substantial experience
Fluent Arabic – Reading, Writing and Speaking
Demonstrated experience working with clients from CALD backgrounds
Strong casework and financial coaching capability
Ability to communicate sensitively across cultures and lived experience
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills
Well-developed written, verbal and computer skills
Working with Children Check (paid)
NSW Driver’s Licence (desirable)
Financial Literacy Education certification or willingness to obtain
