Department Description: We are looking for two enthusiastic student employees to serve as Community Tour Guides this summer at High Point University. This role is a great opportunity to represent HPU while engaging in meaningful service by welcoming community groups to campus and sharing the HPU experience.
Job Location/ Hours Required:
The candidate will perform most/all job duties in OUTSIDE GIVING TOURS OF CAMPUS. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (2-6 hours per week.)
Responsibilities:
- Lead 2 hour walking campus tours beginning at 9 a.m.
- Welcome and engage community groups visiting campus
- Share highlights of campus life, academics, and the HPU experience
- Serve as a friendly and professional ambassador for the university
- Help create a positive and memorable visit for each group
Groups may include
- Elementary and middle school students
- Youth leadership programs such as the HPPD Youth Leadership Academy
- Other community organizations and visiting groups
Desired Skills:
- Outgoing and friendly personality
- Comfortable speaking to groups of all ages
- Reliable and punctual, especially for morning tours
- Able to walk outdoors for extended periods of time
- Strong enthusiasm for HPU and representing the university
- Prior tour guide or ambassador experience is helpful but not required
