Job Description

Senior Product Designer

Department: Corporate/Administrative

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Remote- USA

Description

Trilon is building a supercharged, technology-enabled future for our people and partners. The Senior Product Designer plays a critical role in that mission by owning the end-to-end user experience of Trilon’s Digital Platform.

This is a unique, high-impact role as the sole designer across the platform. You are responsible for defining the design system, interaction patterns, and overall user experience that span four product pods and a shared platform layer. You ensure that every tool feels consistent, intuitive, and immediately usable by engineers, project managers, and field staff across the organization.

You operate at both the system level and the feature level. You establish the design language and component library that pods build against, and you partner with Product Managers and engineers to design workflows that reflect how work actually happens. Consistency is a core platform principle, and you are accountable for making that real across every product surface.

You work closely with the Lead Engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately, with Product Managers to understand workflows and requirements, and with the Principal Solutions Architect to align user experience with system architecture. You also engage directly with operating company users to ground your decisions in real-world workflows and continuously improve the platform experience.

This role requires strong product design fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment. You are pragmatic about constraints, clear in your design decisions, and focused on building tools that make skilled professionals more effective.

Key Responsibilities:

Design System and Platform Experience Ownership:
  • Define and maintain the platform design system, including components, patterns, and visual language
  • Establish consistent interaction models and UX standards across all tools and pods
  • Ensure every product aligns with a unified, intuitive user experience
  • Continuously evolve the design system as the platform grows
Product and Workflow Design:
  • Design end-to-end user experiences for tools across multiple product pods
  • Translate product requirements into clear interaction designs, wireframes, and high-fidelity interfaces
  • Ensure workflows are intuitive, efficient, and aligned with real engineering use cases
  • Balance usability, performance, and technical constraints in design decisions
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with Product Managers to understand requirements and define user-centered solutions
  • Work with Lead Engineers and Software Engineer to ensure accurate and high-quality implementation
  • Collaborate with the Principal Solutions Architect to align UX with system architecture
  • Provide design guidance and feedback across pods to maintain consistency
User Research and Insight Development:
  • Conduct user research with engineers, project managers, and field staff across operating companies
  • Observe workflows and gather feedback to inform design decisions
  • Translate user insights into actionable improvements and product direction
  • Advocate for the user in product and engineering discussions
Design Quality and Governance:
  • Review and approve designs across pods to ensure consistency and quality
  • Establish design review processes and standards
  • Maintain documentation for design patterns, components, and usage guidelines
Continuous Improvement and Platform Evolution:
  • Identify opportunities to improve usability, adoption, and overall product experience
  • Incorporate feedback from deployments and user interactions into future designs
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices relevant to enterprise and workflow software

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • 6+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or related roles
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience designing complex workflow tools or enterprise software
  • Experience defining and maintaining design systems and component libraries
  • Strong skills in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design
  • Experience translating product requirements into intuitive user experiences
  • Experience conducting user research and applying insights to design decisions
  • Ability to design for non-technical users in complex domains
  • Experience collaborating closely with product managers and engineers in agile environments
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to design across multiple products or surfaces
  • Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma or similar
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly articulate design decisions
  • Ability to operate independently and manage design across multiple workstreams
  • Experience in AEC, engineering, construction, or field-based industries is a strong advantage
  • Pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance ideal design with real-world constraints
