School Psychologist
2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Full-time, tenure-track, benefits-eligible
The Closter School District is seeking a dedicated School Psychologist to join our Child Study Team in the 2026-2027 school year. The School Psychologist will evaluate students' psychological, social, and emotional characteristics, support the development of individualized education programs, and provide counseling and consultation services to students, families, and school personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the evaluation, classification, and placement of students with special needs
- Administer, score, and evaluate standardized psychological assessments; prepare comprehensive written evaluation reports
- Interpret testing results and assist in the development and coordination of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); monitor the ongoing academic progress and placement of classified students
- Provide psychological counseling to students, parents, and staff; make referrals to appropriate community resources as needed
- Serve as case manager as assigned and maintain appropriate student records
- Consult with parents, school personnel, and community groups on child development and mental health topics
- Assist in the development and delivery of in-service programs and parent seminars
- Fulfill all Child Study Team duties in accordance with NJ administrative code, state, and federal law
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with School Psychologist endorsement
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations; demonstrated ability to effectively administer psychological evaluations and provide counseling services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status
- Current New Jersey residency, approved waiver, or agreement to establish residency within one year of employment
Terms of Employment
This tenure-track position is covered under the Closter Education Association and Closter Board of Education Collective Bargaining Agreement (2025�2026). The salary range for this position is $57,904 to $86,371, commensurate with degree and graduate credits as outlined in the negotiated salary guide. This salary range considers the applicant's experience, qualifications, and skill sets. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, prescription, and dental coverage, tuition reimbursement, and sick and personal leave.
