Position: Director of Special Education
Hinckley-Big Rock CUSD #429 is seeking a collaborative, student-centered leader to serve as Director of Special Education. This position provides strategic leadership, oversight, and compliance management for all special education programs and services across the district.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision of all special education programs, staff, and services
- Ensure district compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) & 504 Plans
- Support principals and staff in meeting the diverse needs of students with disabilities
- Manage special education staffing, programming, and budgets
- Facilitate professional development for staff related to special education best practices
- Coordinate with outside agencies, cooperatives, and service providers
- Lead problem-solving and student support processes
- Serve as a resource for families
Qualifications
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative endorsement
- Director of Special Education endorsement (or eligibility)
- Successful experience in special education teaching and/or administration
- Strong knowledge of special education law and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Compensation
- Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Hiring range: $75,000-$80,000
- 205-day administrative contract
