Job Description
Payroll Specialist — Join a Growing Payroll Team for our US Client!
Ready to grow your payroll career with hands-on exposure to Workday, high-volume processing, and real ownership? Our US client is expanding its payroll team and looking for a Payroll Specialist to support our current Payroll lead as the team scales.
About the Role
You'll be a key part of a payroll team supporting 500+ employees, working closely with our Payroll Lead, plus HR, Finance, and business stakeholders. The role is a mix of hands-on payroll processing (about 80% of your time) and ad hoc support like fielding payroll questions and requests (about 20%) — so you'll need to be just as comfortable running a clean bi-weekly payroll cycle as you are jumping on a call to help an employee sort out a paycheck question.
What You'll Do
Process bi-weekly (and related cycle) payroll accurately and on time, including uploading payroll data and processing changes
Support day-to-day payroll operations — garnishments, wage verifications, deductions, and PTO accruals
Manage the electronic timekeeping system and QA employee timesheets for accuracy
Ensure commissions, incentives, and bonuses are paid correctly and on schedule
Field payroll-related inquiries via phone and email — discrepancies, requests, and general questions from employees
Run payroll reports to support audits, reconciliations, and business needs
Partner with HR, Finance, and HRIS teams to help improve payroll processes and system accuracy
Pitch in on Workday-related payroll initiatives as the team continues to roll it out
What You'll Bring
3+ years of US payroll experience, ideally including high-volume payroll (500+ employees)
Experience with bi-weekly payroll cycles
Comfortable working across payroll systems — Workday experience is a strong plus, but if you've worked in another major payroll system and are eager to learn Workday, we want to hear from you
Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once
Good communication skills — you'll be talking directly with employees about their pay
Tech-savvy and quick to pick up new systems and tools
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Fluent English
Nice to Have
Prior experience with ADP
Exposure to Workday implementation projects
Payroll certification (not required — equivalent hands-on experience works too)
What's In It For You
A true growth opportunity — join a team that's actively expanding, with room to grow into more responsibility over time
Minimal red tape: work directly with a Payroll Lead who will help you ramp up quickly
Exposure to a modern payroll systems environment, including hands-on Workday experience
Cross-functional collaboration with HR, Finance, and business leaders — great visibility for someone looking to build a broader HR/payroll career
Ready to Apply?
If you're a payroll professional with a few years of solid US payroll experience under your belt — and you're excited to grow into a bigger role on a supportive, expanding team — we'd love to hear from you. The process is two interview rounds, and we can typically move quickly.
