Other duties as assigned. Maintains a database of new patients. Works with physicians and research nurses to identify patients appropriate for research trials. Manages incoming referrals for physicians by communicating with referring offices and physicians to ensure appropriate medical records and referring information are available at scheduled appointments. Confirms to referring physician when a patient’s appointment is scheduled. Communicates with patients, families, support staff, and physicians to schedule initial visits and treatments. Coordinates imaging, specialists, and supportive services. Assists physicians in consenting patients for new treatments and provides necessary education to patients and families. Follows up after inpatient admissions. Assesses patient needs and identifies and utilizes organizational and community resources to assist patients in overcoming barriers to care. Manages ordering and follow-up for genetic testing when applicable. Develops and maintains knowledge of oncology disease processes and serves as a clinical point of contact for scheduling and information. Delegates tasks and acts as a point of contact for medical assistants. Utilizes chart messages for physician and nurse communication. Provides backup triage services. Regularly meets with physicians to identify problems and concerns.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. [Required]
• Effective communication among employees, and between employees, patients, visitors and supervisors is essential to ensure quality patient care and to avoid misunderstanding, errors and miscommunications. [Required]
• Must have some knowledge and experience in performing the duties associated with patient education, lab draws, primary provider visits. [Required]
• In depth clinical knowledge of oncology is essential [Required]
Education:
• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study:

Work Experience:
• 1+ years working with health care professionals and support staffing in a clinical setting [Required]
• 1+ years direct nursing [Required]
• Previous oncology/cancer services navigator work [Preferred]

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) [Preferred]

Pay Range:
