Job Description

The Division of Integrated Health, Office of Systems and Project Management is hiring a Software Testing Specialist for the replacement of the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). The incumbent is responsible to support operations tickets and operations release testing activities, by assisting and supporting the Testing Manager with all testing related activities. This position requires good writing skills and verbal skills--especially the ability to abstract software functionality into plain language testing plans. The individual should be familiar with industry-standard testing practices and writing test plans. A working knowledge of the government applications and business practices would be beneficial, particularly related to Medicaid. Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Review and analyze system requirements, use cases and other system documentation to identify test impacts. Identify and writes user acceptance test scenarios. Review unit and system integration test case results and provide feedback based on expectations documents. Execute test scenarios. Plan and manage test processes. Write and discuss test plan(s), recommendation(s) and/or finding(s). Record and document actual test results and compare them to expected results. Detect software failures and record identified defects using the project defect tracking tool so that defects may be corrected. Review submitted defects for validity and adherence to standard procedures. Troubleshoot issues in the test environment and assist in root cause analysis following established resolution pathways. Provide test data to developers and testers as needed. Consult with functional, quality and development teams and management to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access. Supplemental Information Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. This position may currently be a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion, at any time, and for any reason. Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to Utah within 30 days of their start date.
