Duties and Responsibilities:
Upon indictment, prepares witness lists for entry into Judicial Dialog and CJIS in order for subpoenas to be generated
Contacts law enforcement agencies for submission of evidence into our computer systems
Reviews submitted evidence to include jail calls, Coban videos and 9-1-1 calls; prepares time-stamped transcripts when appropriate; and requests necessary redactions;
Prepares Discovery acknowledgements and Motions regarding extraneous offenses
Contacts victims &/or witnesses; submits investigative requests for them if necessary
Assists with trial preparation including assisting attorneys with victim/witness interviews; prepares trial exhibits and notebooks
Assists attorneys during Docket and Court proceedings; participates in Court proceedings when authorized with a 3L student bar card
Prepares weekly statistic sheets.
Minimum Qualifications:
Attendance at an accredited college or university with an anticipated Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
Knowledge of basic legal terminology; knowledge of basic office procedures.
Skill in coordinating multiple tasks; skill in developing research methods and performing legal research;
Ability to accurately enter data and file information; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the general public.
Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 5-10 lbs. occasionally; visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer, keyboard, and basic office equipment.
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation from the Bexar Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Working conditions are in an office/courtroom environment.
Subject to handling, sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching and twisting to perform the essential functions.
