REHABILITATIVE AND ENTERPRISE DIVISION

The Rehabilitative and Enterprise Division ensures the physical and mental well-being of inmates, delivers educational and vocational opportunities within prisons, and oversees community facilities dedicated to successfully reintegrating offenders into Montana communities. The Programming Services Bureau Chief plays a key leadership role shaping statewide programming, treatment, and case management services. This position offers the opportunity to drive meaningful change, improve outcomes, and lead innovative strategies across all state and contracted correctional facilities.

As Bureau Chief, you will set the vision and direction for programs that support rehabilitation, reentry, and public safety. You’ll collaborate with agency leaders, community partners, and policymakers to ensure high-quality, consistent services that meet regulatory standards and advance DOC priorities.

  • Lead and oversee statewide programming, treatment, and case management operations
  • Drive strategy, set goals, and measure outcomes to improve system-wide performance
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and consistency across all facilities
  • Partner with state agencies, providers, and stakeholders to enhance services
  • Represent DOC with legislators, leadership, and the public
  • Oversee program policies, budgets, and performance metrics
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals
  • Manage contracts and expand partnerships for critical services


You’ll play a critical role in advancing rehabilitation efforts, strengthening communities, and shaping the future of correctional services across the state.

QUALIFICATIONS

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to programming, behavioral health, social services, public administration, human services or other occupationally related fields

  • Licensure in a behavioral health field, or the ability and commitment to become licensed within 3 years of hire.

  • 3 years of experience in program administration or program management

  • 3 years of experience supervising professional staff.

 Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
