Assistant Strength & DE Coach - St. Petersburg Catholic H.S.

St. Petersburg Catholic High School � Barons Athletics

St. Petersburg Catholic High School is seeking a motivated, high-energy Assistant Strength & Conditioning / Defensive Ends Coach to support the continued growth and success of our football program and overall athletic development. This position plays a key role in developing student-athletes both on and off the field through performance training, position-specific coaching, and mentorship.

Position Overview

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning / Defensive Ends Coach will work closely with the Head Football Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator to implement a comprehensive training program while also leading the development of defensive ends within the football program.

Key Responsibilities

Strength & Conditioning

  • Assist in the design and implementation of year-round strength and conditioning programs for multiple sports
  • Supervise and lead training sessions focused on strength, speed, agility, and injury prevention
  • Ensure proper technique, safety, and progression in all lifts and workouts
  • Help organize and manage weight room operations, equipment, and cleanliness
  • Track athlete progress and support performance goals

Football � Defensive Ends

  • Coach and develop defensive ends with a focus on fundamentals, technique, and football IQ
  • Assist in practice planning, drills, and game preparation
  • Contribute to film breakdown using platforms such as Hudl
  • Support defensive game planning and in-game adjustments
  • Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, and effort

Program Development & Culture

  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes
  • Uphold and promote the mission and values of SPC and Barons Athletics
  • Assist in building a strong offseason culture and player development system
  • Support academic accountability and character development of athletes
  • Maintain organization and professionalism in all team and facility spaces

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching experience in football and/or strength & conditioning preferred
  • Knowledge of modern strength training principles and athlete development
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and parents
  • Experience with Hudl or similar video platforms preferred
  • Must meet all FHSAA, NFHS, and Diocese of St. Petersburg certification requirements (CPR/AED, coaching courses, Safe Environment training, etc.)
  • Pass a Level II background screening
