Job Description:
Assist in the enforcement of laws and regulations related to fire safety, health care life safety, fire prevention, suppression of arson, natural gas and propane safety, conveyance safety, boiler safety and underground storage tank safety. Carry out administrative and supervisory duties and assist the Agency Director as needed.

Job Duties: Plan, organize, coordinate and control the operations of the State Fire Marshal Agency. Determines the needs of the Agency regarding staffing, material and equipment. Conduct supervisory duties for Agency management staff. Develops and recommends statutes, regulations, policies and procedures based on Agency needs. Confer with Agency Director to solve problems or issues as directed. In conjunction with DHHS, lead federal health care survey process. Assist fire service and law enforcement with issues and concerns. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, organizational management and three years of experience in fire service, fire investigation, or public safety regulation. OR seven years of experience in a related field. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Business administration, public administration, organizational management. Fire service background.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance required. Candidate must have the ability to learn and interpret statutory and regulatory requirements in a wide range of specialized and technical fields.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of Agency programs, functions, policies and processes
Ability to develop and implement Agency proposals to achieve Agency goals
Supervisory and communication skills with internal and external customers
Ability to interpret and enforce safety regulations
Technical writing skill required
