Ames CSD is seeking a Mail Courier.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm, 255-day work agreement (year-round)
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Receives mail, packages, and shipments; logs each item and prepares them for delivery.
- Delivers interdepartmental mail, U.S. Mail, packages, paper, and other received items in a neat, timely, and organized manner.
- Picks up hazardous materials, light bulbs, and other miscellaneous items from buildings.
- Picks up and delivers parts and supplies from local vendors for district use.
- Coordinates and assists with moving staff and curriculum materials between sites.
- Orders inventory as needed.
- Performs custodial duties as required.
- Plows snow when necessary.
- Operates a forklift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
The successful candidate will exhibit:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in cold and hot temperatures.
- Frequent lifting, bending, carrying, and moving heavy objects such as books, furniture, and boxes of curriculum materials.
- Ability to read, interpret, understand, and implement communications, both written and verbal.
- Proficient computer skills using email, spreadsheets, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and the Internet are preferred.
- Willingness to work with others and to work as a team member.
- Well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks and have effective problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and availability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Compensation: $17.30 per hour
