Leave of Absence - Elementary Teacher - 1st Grade

JOB OVERVIEW:
Provide instruction, assess and encourage student progress, and manage the learning environment
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and Illinois State Standards
2. Implement the assigned program of study
3. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
4. Utilize instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time of task
5. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals
6. Communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis
7. Meet professional responsibilities
8. Maintain and upgrade professional skills
9. Maintain professional work habits
10. Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationship

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Letters of application
• Recommendations and/or references
• Ability to work as a team member and previous experience with elementary age children is preferred
• Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, a valid Illinois Elementary Teaching Certificate
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate Highly Qualified status per No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
• Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first. If no previous teaching experience in the specific class, recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will be considered.
• The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred

Salary: 
Days 1-15: $135 per day
Beginning Day 16 $249.39 per day (with day 1-15 paid retroactively at this rate).
