STEM and Enrichment Opportunities:
Designed to provide relevancy and challenge for all students, Central High School is the first National Certified STEM High School in Colorado. Students in the STEM Program have a variety of pathways available to them including four year college preparatory pathways, career and technical pathways, military pathways, PTECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) pathways (Associate's Degrees options in: manufacturing, welding, mechanical engineering technology, and mechatronics.) and TREP (Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation). 25% of the school's faculty have become STEM certified through the National institute of STEM Education, and our school is working to move from a program to STEM FOR ALL students. Concurrent enrollment courses through Western Colorado Community College and Colorado Mesa University are available to all students, and we offer English 111,112, Chemistry 121, Chemistry 131, Math 108, and Math 113 on campus taught by approved instructors; Career Center courses are available to students in grades 9-12 to explore a variety of vocations such as automotive, horticulture, culinary, medical careers, and small animal care; Career Wise Internships are available to all students grades 10-12; JROTC is available to all students in grades 9-12.

Advance Placement:
Advanced Placement courses are open to all students, grades 9-12 and are offered in the following subjects: English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Statistics, Calculus AB/BC, US History, US Government and Politics, Human Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental Science, Spanish Language, and Computer Science Principles. Honors courses are available for students in the 9th and 10th grade levels in English Composition, Biology, and Geometry and Algebra 2.
 

Job Summary:
Operating under the direction of the School Principal, the Assistant Principal supports the overall leadership and management of the school to ensure the achievement of academic and organizational goals. This position assists in providing instructional leadership, supervising staff, and fostering a positive and productive learning environment in alignment with the school's mission and vision as well as the D51 Teaching and Learning Framework and District Strategic Plan. The Assistant Principal plays a key role in evaluating and mentoring licensed and classified staff, implementing professional development initiatives, and supporting effective teaching and learning practices. Additional responsibilities include promoting positive student behavior, overseeing school operations, and ensuring the consistent implementation of district and state assessments and policies.

Job Responsibility Description

Educational Leadership and Delivery

  • Collaborates with school and community partners to develop innovative programming aligned with student needs, current educational demands, and workforce trends
  • Monitors trends and data in education, workforce, and post-secondary readiness to inform decision-making and student opportunities
  • Promotes technology integration and performance-based learning to enhance instructional practices and student engagement
  • Analyzes attendance, behavior, and engagement data to guide interventions and support student success
  • Serves as an administrative representative for student investigations, balancing legal compliance, sensitivity, and community relations 

Instructional Curriculum and Assessment

  • Supports the implementation and continuous improvement of the D51 Teaching and Learning Framework and school-wide instructional programs
  • Collects and interprets student performance data to guide instructional decisions, meet accountability requirements, and identify professional learning needs
  • Collaborates with instructional teams to align curriculum, assessments, and teaching practices with district and state standards
  • Promotes evidence-based instructional and assessment strategies that support diverse learners and continuous growth
  • Assists in planning and facilitating professional learning aligned to school goals and district priorities

Staff Supervision and Professional Development 

  • Supports the hiring, supervision and evaluations of licensed and support staff in accordance with district policies and human resource procedures
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, reflective practice, and professional growth aligned to the D51 Teaching and Learning Framework
  • Provides feedback and coaching to improve instructional practice and student outcomes
  • Assists School Principal with staff and student concerns through proactive problem-solving, consistent communication, and restorative practices

Campus and Building Operations

  • Supports the Principal with daily school operations, scheduling, and facility management
  • Ensures safety and security protocols are implemented and regularly reviewed with staff and students
  • Coordinates school-wide events, activities, and projects
  • Develops partnerships with parents, guardians, community agencies, and local organizations
  • Assists with budget, resource allocation, and logistical planning to maintain an efficient and effective learning environment
  • Provides integral support related to helping to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment for all students, staff, and school community

Student Services 

  • Provide leadership, oversight, and compliance monitoring for Special Education, CLD/ELL, Gifted & Talented, and 504 Accommodations to ensure high-quality, legally compliant services.
  • Collaborate with district coordinators, service providers, and teaching staff to implement appropriate instructional strategies, interventions, and accommodations that meet diverse student needs.
  • Support evaluation processes, eligibility meetings, transition planning, and IEP/504 development to ensure timely, accurate documentation and implementation.
  • Analyze student performance data to inform program decisions, allocate resources, and drive continuous improvement for all student service areas.
  • Promote an inclusive school culture by engaging families, supporting culturally responsive practices, and ensuring equitable access to academic and behavioral supports.

Salary & Benefits:
