Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Residential Manager oversees the daily operations of a residential substance use treatment program, ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for clients in recovery. This role is responsible for supervising residential clinical staff, coordinating client services, enforcing program policies, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

The Residential Manager works closely with clinical teams to support individualized treatment plans, promote a culture of accountability and compassion, and ensure high-quality care. Key responsibilities include staff scheduling and training, crisis management, documentation oversight, and fostering a positive, recovery-oriented community.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and ensure performance of all direct reports
  • Recruit and retain qualified individuals for above mentioned positions
  • Maintain an expert knowledge base regarding current practices and research
  • Handle crisis situations as they arise
  • Provide direct service as needed and as determined to be appropriate and necessary and document per agency standards (If applicable)
  • Monitor revenues, expenses, program reports, and other data to ensure financial viability.
  • Ensure facility maintains all required accreditations/ licensures
  • Maintain program policies in accordance to accreditations and agency guidelines.
  • Recommend and implement processes and systems that will improve customer service and generate productivity and revenues for your program and the agency as a whole
  • Review and approve purchase requisition, travel vouchers, and other expenditures in accordance with policy.
  • Work proactively to prevent and respond to client and staff concerns/grievances.
  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with agencies including but not limited to justice systems, hospitals, DCBS and other local businesses and community partners.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a mental health related field with the ability to be independently licensed preferred.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor in a 24-hour facility or a drug and alcohol program preferred.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for team building, problem resolution, and producing results in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Possess computer skills

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS:

  • Supervise, lead, and train residential staff (clinical, clerical and residential associates) while fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Manage staff schedules, training, and performance reviews.
  • Serve as the main contact for staff and client issues, and for process improvements.
  • Work in a clinical office environment with regular staff and client interaction.
  • Sit or stand for long periods; lift up to 25–50 lbs as needed.
  • Flexible schedule required, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Performance reviewed annually based on goals, efficiency, and satisfaction outcomes.
