
Property and Leasing Specialist
Job Description
As a Property and Leasing Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, administration, revenue generation and cost mitigation of a real estate portfolio, including properties designated as surplus. Your goal will be to ensure all properties are managed in a cost-effective, compliant, and strategically aligned manner that supports asset value, regulatory requirements, and long-term portfolio objectives. Your success will be demonstrated through effective property and lease management, accurate recordkeeping, coordinated tax filings and exemptions, controlled spend, strong tenant and stakeholder relationships, and the successful management of leasing activities and contractual obligations to maximize utilization and performance across the portfolio.

Your Responsibilities:
Oversee property maintenance activities for a surplus land portfolio across Canada and the United States, partnering with Supply Management to select contractors, schedule work, manage budgets, and prepare and track annual maintenance forecasts
Act as liaison with municipalities to address property complaints and compliance matters
Oversee environmental expenditures, including purchase order creation and spend tracking
Support real estate tax obligations (includes assessment tracking and compliance filings)
Optimize the value of the property portfolio through proactive asset management, leasing revenue generation and cost control
Administer utilities for non‑core properties, including management of department pre‑approved service listings
Plan and coordinate property site visits and inspections, leasing activities, and stakeholder engagement
Act as team's real estate external inquiry traffic controller (directing requests to specialized team members while ensuring timely response)
Support Company projects as required
Your Skills:
Strong property management, leasing, and asset management expertise
Working knowledge of real estate regulations, environmental management, and municipal compliance
Ability to interpret and negotiate legal contracts; basic accounting knowledge considered an asset
Proficiency with property management systems, budgeting tools, and Microsoft Office applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal and relationship‑building abilities
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to multitask independently in a fast‑paced environment
Your Experience:
10–15 years of related business experience in property management, real estate, or a similar field
Undergraduate degree or post‑secondary education in Business, Real Estate, or a related discipline
Valid driver’s license and passport, with the ability to travel throughout Atlantic Canada and the New England States
