- Reviews technical specifications, estimates costs and schedules, plans their own work and that of others, initiates and leads engineering design programs
- Designs engineering systems and complex interfaces, gathers and analyses complicated technical data, solves system level design problems, performs system trade-off and coordination studies, creates novel design alternatives, develops reliability, safety and maintainability approaches, and decides on optimum design approach
- Tests, demonstrates and documents system level designs, develops test procedures, leads design reviews internally and with customers
- Perform thorough analysis of the stakeholder requirements and interaction with the wider systems engineering teams, supplier and end customers
- Ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of our products, making a lasting impact on global mobility. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering design, validation, project management), coordinate RAMS contributors, and engage with external stakeholders such as suppliers and independent safety authorities
- Take care of managing RAMS activities and deliverables, also support the improvement of RAMS processes and product performance
- Planning and piloting RAMS activities and deliverables for projects and programs
- Assessing and demonstrating product safety and reliability performance
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and implement safety and reliability measures
- Managing interfaces with independent safety authorities and external stakeholders
Work Experience
- Previous experience in Mechanical, Electrical, power supply systems (working with System Integration). Knowledge of pneumatic control systems, Pantograph, shoe gear and high voltage systems and components would be a plus.
- Knowledge of systems engineering and development, functional integration, methods and tools. A good knowledge of product development processes and contribution to best practices is also highly desirable.
- Commercial awareness and capability to deliver cost optimal solutions.
- Ability to provide cost and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Experience or understanding of railway safety analysis and RAM prediction methods
- Knowledge of RAMS processes and tools/ methods (FMEA, FTA, MTBF prediction).
- Knowledge of key standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, ISO 26262).
- Familiarity with validation and integration of railway products
- A proactive and structured approach to problem-solving
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- English proficiency for technical discussions and reporting
- Qualification: Bachelors or masters engineering degree in Electrical, Electro-mechanical, or Rolling Stock Engineering
