Job Overview
The Law Officers’ Department is seeking to appoint a Paralegal to join the Civil Division. The role is based in the Safeguarding team with responsibility for advising on public law matters concerning safeguarding of children and adults, including care proceedings, mental health and capacity, and coronial work.
The role will require the successful candidate to provide support to Legal Advisers and Assistant Legal Advisers in the preparation of advice files, litigation cases, carrying out legal research and supporting the team’s Senior Administrator in performing administrative tasks. You will be required to demonstrate excellent computer literacy, organisation and time management skills, and the ability to work to deadlines and be able to follow clear processes and procedures. In house training will be provided to build confidence and knowledge, to enable you to assist with day to day management of caseloads.
- Collects and organises evidence and documentation for legal advisers or investigators to review.
- Carries out research on statute and case law.
- Keeps case files organised and up to date in electronic format using the Court and the Departments’ electronic systems.
- Correspond with client departments and other parties.
- Files documents with the Court and other parties.
