Systems Engineer - Calibration

Job Summary

This Engineering position will play a role in delivering compliant Harley-Davidson products to the marketplace. In addition, the System Engineer will be responsible for delivering world class vehicle drivability through calibration and vehicle system design consultation and integration. The Systems Engineer will release calibrations on time per H-D’s Project Management Methodology and build requirements. To ensure year over year compliance, the role will document results as well as support process and guideline development for calibrations. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates working knowledge and experience of new and changing technology through continuous learning in order to develop high quality engineering products and continuously improve processes. Ability to drive results with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Impacts quality of their own work through effectively communicating complex information with stakeholders such as designers, detailers, technicians and outside suppliers.
  • Solves engineering issues relating to quality, cost and timing expectations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience and judgement with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Provides informal guidance to new design engineer team members and delegates responsibilities to team members when appropriate.
  • Works effectively with cross functional teams and participate in the reduce time to market initiative by identifying, implementing and measuring the results of innovative product development techniques within the teams.

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related technical field 

Experience Requirements

Required Experience 

  • Typically requires 3 years of related expereince. 
  • Exposure to the fundamentals of (ICE) internal combustion engine and powertrain operation.
  • Exposure to (HEV) hybrid electric vehicle or (EV) electric vehicle controls operation and calibration.
  • Understand ICE performance and emissions tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated the ability to develop a test plan to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Exposure to calibration tools (such as ATI Vision, and MatLab/Simulink)
  • Development of a test plan to ensure project requirements are met.
  • A basic understanding of data acquisition systems and techniques through successful execution of projects.
  • The ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear and concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated diagnostics and problem resolution skills.

 

Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate they are able to:

 

  • Knowledge in the fundamentals of ICE, EV, or HEV calibration development.
  • Influence part design and control strategies.
  • Participate in benchmarking of competitive technologies and calibration strategies
  • Analyze test results to provide decision-ready information.
