Owens Corning Benefits Owens Corning Roofing Division - Composites:  Fort Smith Plant OC Fort Smith started operations in 1985 and start operations in the new facility/line in 2025 with an expanded site starting up late 2025.  We now have 2 separate buildings/lines on the property and have more than doubled in population in 3 years! Fort Smith team works 24/7 creating wet formed fiberglass or coated fiberglass mat that’s used in further manufacturing processes, such as shingles, FR building materials.  Our 2 New Facilities are completed and has increased the size of our team.   We have a few more opportunities to help the team stabilize and grow! Join the Fort Smith Team now for future growth opportunities! City of Fort Smith, AR Schedule: Fort Smith crews work 12 hours shift on a 2 week rotation with 3 Day Weekend every other week. Week 1- 36 Hours: Monday; Thursday; Friday Week 2- 48 Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday; Saturday; Sunday Additionally, crews rotate between Day & Night Shift every 28 days allowing teams to have the best of both worlds and plan personal activities on Off Days. SUMMARY The Shift Leader embodies the 100% Leader concept by balancing Challenge with Connection, enabling engaged team members to exceed safety, quality, productivity, and financial expectations. This relationship is characterized by mutual trust, open communication, teamwork, and positive recognition. The Shift Leader is a key leader in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), with special emphasis on Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities. This position is responsible for the safety of the shift personnel first and is responsible for their training and development. The Shift Leader coordinates all production work, and is accountable for ensuring operational procedures, producing product to specifications, and meeting quality and performance metrics. The Shift Leader is the key change agent on the plant floor, identifying and removing barriers to Continuous Improvement (CI). This position directly supervises all production team members assigned either permanently or temporarily to the shift team and has responsibility for all plant team members outside of normal working hours (night shift, weekends, and holidays). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Build Safety Culture Through Leadership Drives expectations and seeks best practices to drive world-class safety performance Facilitates all required safety training Insures safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work areas, building a culture where EHS excellence is the top priority Identifies and immediately corrects risks and hazards in the workplace Lead and Develop Talent Effectively engages all teams to collaboratively own the success of the business, contributing to the continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, and employee engagement Actively leads and builds effective work teams to increase plant performance, driving continuous improvement through TPM Partners with relevant stakeholders to ensure team members are well-trained Monitors and enforces all plant and corporate policies and procedures Manage Production Manages all aspects of the shift, including staffing, to meet operational targets Anticipates, identifies, and corrects issues autonomously, escalating when additional resources are needed Develops and executes action to identify and eliminate top losses, using “loss tree” methodology Effectively utilizes manufacturing systems to identify, execute, and track improvement opportunities Recognizes TPM as the manufacturing solution and builds TPM culture through: TPM training and problem-solving tools Leading, mentoring, and developing talent on TPM teams Promoting skill enhancement of team members Leading FI events, 5S events, and other CI activities throughout plant Collaborates with relevant stakeholders and takes proper actions to achieve desired output [(Job Efficiency (JE) and Operational Efficiency (OE)], optimizing the mat-making process through CI Lead Autonomous Maintenance Coordinator (AMC) Processes Performs AMC functions while leading a shift and participates on the AM pillar steering team Drives CI and Focused Improvement (FI) within AM teams, coaching, guiding, and assisting when needed Facilitates AM events and activities across the plant MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : 3-5 years of experience in Manfuacturing Leadership, or a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in Manfuacturing Leadership is required. Eligible for work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.   This positions is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. Climb stairs, steps, and ladders Ability to work extended hours as necessary Able to Operate Computers & Computerized equipment for quality, safety and compliance testing and training. Communicate with co-workers face to face, by telephone, and electronic communications. Possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Vision adequate to manipulate equipment controls, complete paperwork, utilize computers, and have depth perception.
