Work Experience
The Blood and Marrow Transplant inpatient unit is seeking new graduate nurses with a desire to join our premier multidisciplinary team at one of only 51 National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. Nurses on this 16-bed acute unit provide care to adult patients with mainly hematologic malignancies undergoing stem cell transplant or cellular therapies such as CAR-T (Chimeric antigen receptor) therapy, an innovative treatment for several hematologic malignancies, including Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Nurses actively participate in many clinical trials and novel therapies.
With many cancer patients experiencing extended and repeated hospital admissions, nurses are able to connect with patients and families and greatly impact their care and outcomes.
On the Blood and Marrow Transplant inpatient unit, nurses learn to administer advanced cancer-fighting therapies and earn an Oncology Nursing Society Chemo/Biotherapy certificate. Nurses administer blood products, monitor and treat patients for disease- or treatment-related toxicities, and provide supportive and palliative care to a vulnerable patient population.
