The Opportunity
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for an MMCD Contract Administrator / Inspector (CA) to join our team in the Lower Mainland. In this role, you will be a key player within the Municipal Division helping us expand our construction services for existing and prospective clients throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. You will join our established team of CAs, inspectors, professional engineers, and engineers-in-training and have the support of senior CAs on projects with capital values up to $40M.
This is an opportunity to advance your skills in negotiation, project planning, leadership, construction industry practices, problem solving, and financial tracking.
This role is designated as a safety-sensitive position and completion of a pre-employment drug & alcohol and fitness for work testing is required.
What You’ll Do
Prepare and/or review MMCD tender documents
Fulfill the contractually defined role of an MMCD Contract Administrator
Coordinate and delegate inspections
Create and/or review inspection reports
Liaise with the Engineer(s) of Record as required
Coordinate effort required by the municipality or client as required
Engage with our municipal leadership team for construction season planning
Set a positive example for safety on the job site
Creative problem solving while thinking several steps ahead
Provide constructability reviews on design drawings
What You’ll Bring
4+ years of field or construction related experience as contract administrator and / or inspector on MMCD contracts
Ability to interpret construction, contracts, drawings, and specifications and compare them with construction in progress, identifying non-conforming materials and workmanship
MMCD Contract Administration Certification would be an asset
Experience working for a contractor on MMCD contracts would be an asset
Ability and willingness to assert your position professionally in confrontational situations
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
