What's in it for you:
As a Material Planner with Trane Technologies in Charlotte, we will call on you to collaborate with other manufacturing teams to solve problems, and to improve processes and key metrics. Your crucial responsibility will be to manage raw material and component purchases and to ensure their timely delivery to the plant in support of assembly operations.
What you will do:
- Develop, maintain, and execute material plans to ensure continuity of supply for purchased materials, components, and finished goods sourced from external suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels, replenishment signals, and material requirements to support production schedules and customer service objectives.
- Create, review, and manage purchase orders, supplier schedules, and delivery commitments for assigned materials or supplier portfolios.
- Coordinate with suppliers, sourcing, procurement, logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, and customer service teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Track supplier performance, order status, and inbound shipments; identify, communicate, and help resolve delays, shortages, and supply risks.
- Analyze material demand, inventory trends, lead times, and replenishment parameters to support inventory optimization and planning effectiveness.
- Escalate supply risks, constrained materials, and potential service impacts in a timely manner, while supporting recovery and mitigation plans.
- Maintain accurate planning data, item parameters, purchase order information, and system records in ERP and planning tools.
- Support new product introductions, engineering changes, phase-ins, phase-outs, and other transitions that impact purchased material supply.
- Participate in planning, operations, and cross-functional meetings to align material readiness with business needs and operational priorities.
- Prepare and support reporting related to material availability, inventory health, supplier performance, and planning execution.
- Identify opportunities to improve replenishment processes, supplier coordination, data quality, and overall material flow.
- Support continuous improvement projects and implement standard work, planning best practices, and process enhancements.
What you will bring:
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in supply chain, operations management, business, or a related field is preferred; 3+ years of Trane Technologies experience in those fields will also be considered.
- Previous experience in production planning, materials planning, logistics or supply‑chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems, Oracle is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of production planning principles, MRP logic, and master scheduling
- Proficiency in Excel and other data‑analysis tools.
- Understanding of BOM structures, routings, capacity planning, and inventory control concepts.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Kanban systems, or continuous‑improvement methodologies.
- APICS certification or ability to become qualified within the first year of employment.
